Reincarnation of God takes place to protect the good and for the distruction of the wicked, and to establish righteousness, at the end of every era. There are then main Avtaras in sanatan, they are:
1. Matsya : fish, the
first stage of evolution
2. Kurma: the second stage of evolution
3. Varaha: bringing up the earth from spiritual ocean
4. Narsinha: killing demon Hiranyakashipu
5. Vamana: vanquishing Bali, sent him to Patala planet
6. Parasurama: extirpating Kshatriya
7. Rama: killing the egocentric demon ravana
8. Krishna: Purna, eight. Stage of evolution
9. Balram: Haldhar with Lord Krishna
10. Buddha: teacher of non-violence
11. Kalki: to end the era.

Yaksha, Rishabh, Hansa, Dhanwantari, Hayagriva, Vyaasa, Prithu, Narayan for
dhruva, Narayan for Gajendra.
Festivals
NAVRATRI: There are 9(40x9=360 days of the year) Navratras in one year. But only two of them are observed, one in the beginning of the New Year (April) and another after six months (in the month of Aswin). During these days, Mahamaayaa Bhagawati, the most powerful Goddess and giver of birth to all the Jeevas and also protector, is worshiped.
RAM NAVAMI: The frist Navaratri is followed by Ram Navami, which is the birthday of Lord Rama, and second Navaratri is followed by Vijayadashami or called Dushahera, the day when ten heads of the statue of ego were demolished by God.
HANUMAN JAYANTI: Hanumaan Jayanti falls on the following full moon day of the Ramnawami. Keshari, named an ape has worshipped Vayu Devata and thus Hanuman is appeared from the womb of mother Anjani. Hanumaan Ji is believed to be the Avataar of Lord Shiva and remain alive forever and ever in his invisible form. Wherever there is a singing of the name of his Lord "Rama", he is believed to remain there and thus gives strength to his devotees and protects them.
NIRJALA EKADASHI: In summer, devotees of Lord Vishnu keep fast srubibing without water, and offer water to those who are in need, this is a way of helping to others by which one can please God.
NAAG PANCHAMI: This festival teaches that even if a person is as bad as a snake one should be kind to him and serve him. Then he will have no enemies in this workd.
GURU PUURNIMA: This festival is celebrated in order to pay extreme respect to teacher. Guru Purnima also known as Vyas Purnima.
RAKSHA BANDHAN: Raksha bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the month shraavan. On this day those who wordhip Goddess Gayatri, they change their Janeu(secrad thred) as a significance of one step progress in accomplishing the wisdom. Sinter ties Rakhies (Raksha = protexion) on the wrists of brothers to remind them of always being helpful, kind, and protective and to express the care between brother and sisters.
KRISHNA JANMASTAMI: Janmastami is the day when the appearance of Lord krishna is celebrated, falls on the 8th day of the waning (dark half) of the month Bhadrapad.
GANESH CHATURTHI: Lord Ganesha is wrshipped for all kind of successes in life. Ganesh is worshipped in 12 forms. On the full moon day, the deity is assimilated with the water, which is also called Narel Punam day. For 15 days of waxing or waning moon, each day belongs to one of the 15 Devatas as: (1) Agni (2) Brahma (3) Gouri (4) Ganesh (5) nag (6) kartikeya (7) Sun (8) Vasu (9) Bhagawati (10) kaal (11) bishedeva (12) Vishnu (13) kaamdeva (14) Shiva and (15) ancestor or moon. Thus, the fourth day bleongs to Ganesh. Usually the birthday of Ganeshis celebrated with a mass gathering.
DHAN TERAS (DHANWANTARI TRIYODASHI): Dhanwantari is one of the nectar bearers who appeared at the time of samudra manthan which took place between Devas and Demons. Dhanwantari is full of prosperity and the giver of wealth and hearlth.
DEEPAWALI (DIWALI): Deepalwali falls on the amawasya of kartik. Lakshmi, Goddess of prosperity, is worshipped onthis day. Among four ashrams (Brahmacharya, Grahasth, Banpraastha and Sanyas) Grahasth is considered as the best where a person faces all kinds of tests iin life, earns money. By serving all three other ashramites and their families he has to worship laxmi. Thus, by using that money in a preper way he can be free from major debts, known as Dev Rin, Rishi Rin and Pitra Rin by Yagya Adhyab (study of Shastraas) and Putrotapadan (giving birht and upbringing to a son). For being free form all these debts money can be helpful, for which Goddessof presperity is worshipped. Deepawali is followed by Goverdhan puja and on the third day Bhiya Dooj or Bhai teeka.
DUSHERA: Dushahara is celebrated on the tenth dayy of secong Navartra(october). This is to remember that those perople having ten times and ego, than a normal man, are to be demolished by the Truth (God). A well-learned and wealthy king, Ravan, who thought that he would be able to control the whole world was demolished by the Lord.
VAT SAVITRI: The worship of Bat tree comes in probably because Satyavan when the moment of death approached took shelter under the shade of Bat tree and supported himself by a branch of it and spoke in a choked voice to Savitri that he had pain in the head. Women should make a sankalpa in the form " I shall perform Savitri vrat for securing long life and health to my husband and my sons and for securing freedom from wildness. Surrounding the Vat tree, she should then pray to it and bow down to the earth.
KARVA CHOTH: This festival falls on Kartik (Oct-Nov.) This is celebrated by married women for the long life of their husband, to keep one of the seven premises between husband and wife at the time of wedding ceremony while taking the seven rounds around the fire. (i.e. 5th promise by the bride: I shall keep worshipping Goddess Durga for your well being, long life and prosperity). Gobhila Smriti says that one who's mind is following the system of the nature is a woman whose good husband will live free from all difficulties.
AAHOI: Aahoi falls on Kartik Krishna Astami (oct-nov). This is a fast which is observed by married couples for the long life of their children or for those who have no children, for the birth of a son or daughter.
GITA JAYANTI: (Magh shu.11) It is the day of the celebration of the appearance of this great epic that can provide answer of unlimited question a seeker can have.
LOHADI: Lohadi is celebrated mostly in northern part of India this is customized festival when many perople gather together and enjoy the heart of frie in extremewinter. Fre poplcornsand peanuts candies are offered to fire god and then rest is didtributed among the participants.
MAKAR SANKRANTI: (it always falls on 14th of january) on the day when sun enters on the Aquarius sing of Zodiac. Six months of the year are considered as the days of Devata and theothe six monthsas night. This is the commencement of a new day of Devas.
HOLI: Festival of colors is celebrated in the month of Fagun (march/april) to mark the end of the year and commence of the new year. Bhakta Prahalad was saved by Lord Vishnu on this day. Devotion is more powerful then material wealth.
